Marvel Avengers Alliance: Special Operation 14 ( Spec Ops 14)

The Dark Elves are invading London, with portals opening throughout the city. Without the Bifrost, options are limited, but unless we can find a way to take the fight to Svartalfheim, we will fall. In our darkest hour, we turn to Thor.

New Hero: Heimdall
Bio – Brother of Sif and steadfast friend of Thor, Heimdall is the guardian of the Bifrost Bridge and the eternal sentry of Asgard. His vision and hearing are so sensitive that they border on omniscience, allowing him to perceive threats from all across the Nine Worlds. Though statue-like in his demeanor, he is anything but idle, and will not hesitate to use his considerable skills as a warrior to protect Asgard.

New Villain: Malekith
Malekith the Accursed is the ruler of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. His goal is nothing less than to plunge all of the Nine Realms into utter darkness.

New Group Boss: Kurse
Algrim the Strong was Malekith’s most loyal lieutenant. Abusing that loyalty, Malekith transformed Algrim into the monstrous Kurse, then convinced Kurse that all of his suffering was the fault of one Asgardian: Thor.

New Lockbox Hero: Loki
Our newest lockbox hero is Loki, which can be recruited by completing the Mischievous lockbox collection.

Bio – Son of a frost giant, lover of deception and chaos, Loki Laufeyson was always doomed to be an outsider in Asgard. Despite his cunning wit and mastery of sorcery, he remained forever in the shadow of his step-brother Thor. Though Loki crafted many schemes to destroy Thor and usurp the throne of Odin, he failed time and time again. Newly released from an Asgardian prison, he now offers to help S.H.I.E.L.D. in exchange for his freedom. But make no mistake; nothing Loki offers is ever as it seems.

(UPDATED @ 5PM 10/29) Lockbox Bonus Bar:
We are introducing a new progress bar which should allow users to see how close they are to receiving their next guaranteed NEW collection cover. The math for new covers has not changed since we originally launched the feature. We are now just visually showing what’s always been working in the background, and it works as described below:

You have a chance to receive duplicate covers until you have received a number of duplicates equal to the number of unique covers you currently own IN THAT COLLECTION. Each collection has its own counter and does not influence the chances of duplicates in other collections. Here’s an example below.

You open your 6th NEW cover and now have 6 unique covers in your collection unlocked. You only need 2 more covers to unlock Loki. You now have a chance to receive up to 6 duplicate covers before you receive your 7th NEW cover for your collection. Once you have reached 6 duplicate covers, your 7th cover is guaranteed to be new. However, you ALWAYS have a chance to get a new cover.

The progress bar we’ve added to each collection page will show you how close you are to a guaranteed NEW cover and hopefully will make it easier to determine how close you are to obtaining the lockbox hero.

Of course the example above applies to both opening 1 lockbox and 10 lockboxes at a time, but the chance to open any cover at all when opening 1 lockbox never changes. So be aware that in most cases opening 10 lockboxes at a time will complete your collection faster. Unless you’re lucky!

  • Black Knight’s issue with Blood Curse not working has been addressed

Balance Changes:

PVP Daily Spin
The PVP Daily Spin loot table has been updated.

Revamped PVP Pre-Fight and Victory Screen
The pre-fight loading screen has been removed in PVP. Clicking on the Fight button now sends users directly into combat. As a result, players should no longer experience their browser or Flash freezing up after initiating a fight in PVP.

Additionally, the victory screen has been simplified in favor of a cleaner result page with less clutter. The information that was previously displayed can now be retrieved by visiting their opponent’s profile.

PVP Turn order change
In order to reduce the chance of a lopsided PVP fight due to all opponents going back-to-back, the turn order algorithm has been updated. Now turn order will alternate between the two teams evenly. The placement of members in that team order is still determined randomly. Note: This only affects PVP battles.

New PvP Crafting Task
Another Dimension
An epic crafting quest has been added to PVP season 11. Like the Shepherd’s Staff before, this quest requires players to participate in PVP daily to gain items used to craft the item. In addition to this, a story-driven quest sends players through Spec Ops 12 and missions as they try to unlock the mysteries that lie behind one of the most powerful cosmic devices known to SHIELD.

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Spec Op 13 – How to defeat Group Boss Thanos

Marvel Avengers Alliance: Spec Ops 13 – How to defeat Group Boss Thanos

group boss thanos

Rule 1:

We don’t recommend KILLING OFF YOUR OWN THANOS. Just weaken him 10% HP and then wait for him to kill you off will do. Also do not collect your THANOS REWARD until the last 12 hours prior to expiry. Don’t worry. The moment you SPAWN THANOS. The 72 hour timer also count down at the same time.

By Agent Michael Raberts.
To maximize the amount of lockboxes you get and to help out more of your allies, i recommend that you Don’t collect your Group Boss reward until the last 12 hours before the group boss returns. even after Thanos is killed by an ally, he will still be available to other allies.. he will be at minimal health, and thus will serve as a good source for lockboxes. thanos only disappears from the allies maps after you redeem the group boss reward. Also, by doing so, you also benefit yourself!! for everytime an ally does 5% or more damage to your thanos, you will be rewarded with one lockbox. thus the longer u leave thanos active, the more lockboxes you get!! so please help out each other by keeping your group boss alive as long as possible. also on another note, please select the ‘select all and send’ option when sending group boss requests to allies. this way, you can get much more rewards!!

Scrapper ~10% health. Thanos gets two turns per round. Thanos summons mission 1 boss, Proxima Midnight (blaster). Proxima has a defense buff that counters. I focused on Thanos until he fled and tried to debuff Proxima. She makes things difficult. Healing was important for me.

Tactician ~10% health. Thanos summons mission 2 boss, he’s a scrapper and loves to make you bleed. I didn’t find him all that annoying. On the second round (I think?), Thanos hit my middle hero for ~16,000 health. I counted this hero as neglible from this point forward with this class of Thanos.

Blaster ~10-15% health. Starting to get easier. I loaded up with tacticians for the extra turn.

Infiltrator  ~15-20% health. Using melee causes Titanic Intimidation. Not as horrible as I thought. I wouldn’t depend on melee in this form. I loaded up on blasters.

Bruiser ~15-20% health. Thanos has another skill called Touch of Nihilism. It basically screws the next person that hits him but really? It’s not that bad. It was very survivable. I loaded up on blasters again.  ~10% health. Thanos gets two turns per round. Thanos summons mission 1 boss, Proxima Midnight (blaster). Proxima has a defense buff that counters. — S.H.I.E.L.D. Intel

Group Boss is designed to be combated by a Player and their Allies. It was introduced in Special Operations – Vision of the Future.

Group Boss battle is similar to a Boss battle, but must be fought several times. It costs 10 Energy and 20 Unstable Isotope-8 to initiate on a Player’s map, but does not require any Resources if initiated on an Ally’s map.

The Team-Up! is not present in Group Boss. Supplies, Distress Calls, and Combat Store are disabled during the battle. Ending the battle will not progress the current mission and does not add to a mission score.

Guide by Contributor Jonathan Roberts

Best advice I can give anyone for fighting against Thanos as the Group Boss:

Although he’s strong against most types of attacks, gun and ranged attacks are his weaknesses. Melee works well too unless he’s Infiltrator class. The great thing is that even as an Infiltrator, melee type follow-ups from Scrappers and counter attacks DON’T activate is Titanic Intimidation passive (which stacks multiple times to cut stats over and over again from melee type attacks – including Stealthy ones). Also, while most of the attacks themselves may be weak against him, the damage over time effects are NOT. They do just as much damage to him as

Keep Punisher, Hawkeye and maybe Invisible Woman on hand because of their great non-energy based Ranged attacks. If you have both of HE’s Heroic Age (and also his Avengers Assemble Infil one) and IW’s alternates, Thanos is a LOT easier to deal with. The annoying thing is that they seem to have reduced his original 50% chance to get the “Rapid Fire” follow-up. The cool thing is that using Punisher’s 1st Skill in his default Generalist mode with Hawkeye’s Pinpoint Target skill basically gives you the same effects as Spec Op 12′s Guided Repeater except with the added bonus of Target Focus for boosting damage from the next single target attack (30% boost, according to the M:AA wiki). If you need/want to, just reapply those 3 to him along with any debuffs you can, when he uses his Black Hole skill to do an equally damaging Scroll of Angolob effect (removing all enemy buffs and personal debuffs with a shock to both parties in the process). IW’s Force Cage might be able to slow down his Black Hole healing.

Keep in mind that he’ll summon a counter class lieutenant to cover his weaknesses after he takes enough damage or lasts for a number of rounds – maybe 4 or so. You can have your Agent be Generalist or the counter class of his lieutenant if you don’t want to just rely on Punisher for that situation (if he’s Tactician, his Lieutenant will Scrapper to counter any Infiltrators on your team, so it’ll be good to have Punisher and possibly your Agent as Bruiser class for the defense AND class bonus). Generalist might be best for your Agent’s class just to be on the safe side, unless you have very high stats for all your uniforms. Honestly, a high level Frank Castle can take down any and all of his followers in just a couple rounds – with help. It’s pretty fun using his Tactician class Proximity Mine skill against the oh so annoying Proxima.

PvP Season 10

PVP Teams and Gear Loadouts
PVP Season 10 Brings the highly anticipated feature of separate gear loadouts for PVP and Missions. Not only that, but players can actually choose different heroes and uniforms as well. Players will even get two PVP teams (one for offense and one for defense) which will provide a great amount of new strategy.

To summarize, players now have:
- A Missions Team, uniforms, and gear loadouts
- An Offensive PVP Team, uniforms, and gear loadouts
- A Defensive PVP Team, uniforms, and gear loadouts

Each team may also use the same heroes, uniforms, and gear if the player so chooses.

PVP Season 10
We have spent a considerable amount of time on changing the opponent selection system for PvP Season 10. Users should no longer face the same opponent multiple times in a row, and the list of challengers should be much more vast.

We have also removed the ELO gain that opponents would get if a CVE occurred while attacking.

MAA Season 2 is here!!!

Season 2 Is Here!

Claim Free REWARDS:  http://marvelavengersrewards.com/?page_id=100

  • You’ve been waiting for months, and it’s finally here! Season 2: Chapter 1 (along with a preview of Chapter 2).
  • The Missions Section has been completely overhauled. “Story” has now been renamed “Season 1”. While functionality for the Season 1 and Spec Ops tabs remain the same, there is a new “Mission Info” tab that will give you information on a per-mission basis (previously only available at the Chapter level). You also will notice icons that show you if there is an Epic Boss available in a Chapter.
  • New Gameplay: Chapter Mastery has been exchanged with a brand new system. We will still call this Chapter Mastery, but it no longer relies on stars. Note that Season 1 and Spec Ops will still use the star system. The new Chapter Mastery is based on completion of every event type in a mission map as well as the related quests. In order to add some excitement to this, we’ve introduced some new event types to the map as well as given a facelift to some old favorites. The completion bars are as follows:
    • Chapter Mastery - Completed when all other sub bars are completed
      • Tasks - Tasks will now have a chain for every chapter, similar to how Spec Ops work
      • Deploys - Complete every deploy in all 6 missions
      • *NEW* Incursions - Complete every Incursion event in all 6 missions. Incursions are battles where you fight agents and teams from other realities, protecting your own! While it is similar to PVP, you are able to change your team and these battles do not use PVP hero bonus or Armory bonus.
      • *NEW* Heroic Battles - Complete every Heroic Battle event in all 6 missions. Heroic Battles are combat events where the agent is usually not available and the focus is on classic mashups between specific heroes and villains. You are required to own the heroes who the story focuses on.
      • Challenge Modes - Complete challenge mode for all 6 missions.
      • Epic Bosses - Find and defeat all of the Epic Bosses in the chapter. While there used to generally only be one per chapter in Season 1, Season 2 chapters will have more than one. Look at the mission icons to see which missions feature an Epic Boss.
  • Chapter Mastery Rewards are no longer going to be golden weapons. Instead, we’re going to be giving players brand new hero uniforms. Chapter 1 will feature the new Heroic Age Iron Fist! Completing the Chapter Mastery will unlock both the scrapper and bruiser versions of this uniform.
  • Chapter Difficulty for a Season 2 mission is set at your level the first time you play the mission! Also, all gear rewards in Season 2 are customized! We feel this will provide a greater sense of challenge and fun to all players, regardless of their level.
  • The Chapter Info screen has been updated to show each of the rewards you get for completing each of the Chapter Mastery sub bars as well as the Chapter Mastery bar. These are also shown in tooltips when you hover over the bars.
  • NEW VILLAINS
    • Sugar Man - The monstrous Sugar Man comes from an alternate reality where the mutant tyrant Apocalypse conquered North America. A slaver and geneticist, he performed hideous experiments in a Seattle prison camp before escaping to our world.
    • Selene - Selene Gallio can psionically drain the life force of others, rejuvenating herself and controlling her victim’s mind. She has used this power to live for thousands of years, all the while cultivating her mastery of dark sorcery.
    • These are two of many new favorite Marvel villains to come!
  • We are working closely with Marvel and MAA writer Alex Irvine on a new story for Season 2 that has close ties to the story being told in the Avengers and New Avengers comic series regarding Incursions. However, prior knowledge from the comic books is not needed as our Marvel Gaming Universe version of the story is stand-alone and unique.
  • For all of the comic book fans out there, especially fans of New Avengers, check out the watermark behind the Season 2 tab. It’s Black Panther discovering the first known Incursion in Wakanda.

Task System Update

  • The task system has been totally overhauled to be more fluid and support different types of tasks in the future.
  • The task icon has been updated to be more consistent with the new UI for Season 2. It is now a blue briefcase (which is also the icon for the task sub bar of Season 2 Chapters).
  • There are now arrows that allow you to scroll through your entire task list with ease without opening the task bag. However the task bag is still available if you’d like an overview of all your tasks.

Research Update

  • The Research section now is sortable to help you find the things you’re looking for.

Music and Sound Update

  • We have added over 100 new sound effects to the game to make combat sound totally awesome! Not only that, but we know people were tired of the same two songs over and over in the game. We’ve now added over 10 music tracks to the game that weren’t there before.
  • In an effort to bring attention to this update, everyone’s sound toggle has been reset to “On”. You are welcome to turn it back off, but we ask that you give it a chance and let us know how you like it.

Additional Improvements

  • On the Team Page you can now scroll through all of the moves of characters who have more than 4 moves. Check out Punisher, Vision, Omega Sentinel, and Cable on the team page and use the arrows on the lower-right corner to scroll through their move list.
  • We are slowly rolling out the previously-announced “Collect and Resend” button on the flight deck. If you do not have the feature yet, be patient. It will be coming to everyone soon.
